With the shift in the education system from traditional methods to the modern methods, it is essential to use ICT and techonology. It begins with using ICT for the most basic of steps in teaching and learning, ICT can be used as an informative tool for students to further their learning, I have been able to understand that ICT as an informative tool is an application or software which can be used to acquire a wide range of knowledge and information in the different forms such as text, image, sound, graphics, video, etc.
It is essential
to integrate ICT as an informative tool as it reaps immense benefits, I have been
able to understand that ICT as an informative tool can help students to improve
understanding and retention as visual aids,
info-graphics help simplify complex topics, making it easier for students to
grasp and remember information. It also more important to note that ICT as an
informative tool supports different learning styles, this allows students to
learn their desired content through their preferred learning styles like
visual, auditory or kinesthetic which could result in improved performance and
more understanding of the content. It has also helped me realize that unlike the
traditional way of teaching and learning, the learners can take ownership of
their learning and learn the content on their own at their own preferred pace
which helps foster independence and helps in extending their knowledge beyond
what is taught in the classroom. An example of ICT as an informative tool is a
student might learn about growth of a plant, the student can use the internet
to further find information and learn through images or videos.
Youtube is an example of an informative tool because it provides information on the desired topics in the form of videos. Youtube is a social media and video sharing platform owned by Google. Youtube is an informative tool as it provides vast information and supports various learning styles (auditory, video and info-graphics) and makes content easier by breaking it down. It also promotes independent learning as students can learn at their desired pace.
